VBC Hub is seeking a Management Accountant to support financial planning, business performance and commercial decision-making. You will prepare management reports, develop budgets and forecasts, analyse costs and profitability, and advise senior management on financial risks and opportunities across the business.

Key responsibilities

Provide advice to senior management on the financial implications of business activities, operational decisions and proposed expenditure.

Prepare annual budgets and rolling forecasts with operational managers, monitor performance against budget and recommend corrective action.

Prepare monthly management reporting packs, profit and loss accounts and balance sheet reconciliations, with variance analysis and clear commentary on business performance.

Analyse operating costs, revenue, margins and cost allocations to identify cost savings and support pricing and profitability decisions.

Analyse and reconcile multi-tiered commission statements and revenue arrangements against carrier and supplier agreements, investigating discrepancies and their financial impact.

Prepare reports on the current and projected financial position, including 13-week rolling cash flow forecasts, and advise on working capital requirements.

Assess the financial viability and risks of expenditure and investment proposals through financial modelling and scenario analysis.

Formulate and review financial policies, accounting procedures and internal controls, including approval workflows and controls over supplier payments and receivables.

Review financial processes and investigate anomalies to improve reporting accuracy, strengthen controls and support internal and external audit enquiries.

Oversee the business's BAS and IAS preparation, GST reconciliations, PAYG withholding and superannuation compliance, coordinating lodgement and advice with external accountants where required.





Improve accounting information systems, reporting tools and process automation to provide timely, reliable financial information to management.

About you

A bachelor degree or higher qualification in Accounting, or in Commerce, Business or Finance with an accounting major, or an equivalent overseas qualification.

At least one year of relevant experience in management accounting or a closely related commercial accounting role, at a professional accounting level. Equivalent part-time experience will be considered.

Practical experience preparing budgets, forecasts, management reports and variance analysis, and using financial information to support business decisions.

Robust skills in cost analysis, financial modelling, cash flow forecasting and the interpretation of financial and operational data.

Sound knowledge of accounting principles, relevant Australian Accounting Standards, internal controls and Australian tax and superannuation obligations.

Proficiency in accounting systems and financial reporting tools, with strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables and data analysis.

Ability to explain financial results and recommendations clearly to managers and colleagues without an accounting background.

Strong attention to detail, sound professional judgement, confidentiality and the ability to manage competing reporting deadlines.

CPA or CA qualification, or progress towards a recognised professional accounting qualification (desirable).

Experience analysing commission-based revenue and supplier agreements, and improving reporting or approval workflows using tools such as Microsoft Power Automate and SharePoint (desirable).
