Somerset College is seeking a Junior School Pedagogical Coach to join our Junior School Leadership team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly effective educator who is passionate about strengthening teaching practice and enhancing student outcomes through coaching, mentoring and professional learning. Working closely with the Head of Junior School and Junior School Leadership Team, you will support the implementation of the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) while helping teachers develop contemporary, evidence-informed approaches to teaching and learning.

Through instructional coaching, professional learning and team-oriented partnerships, you will foster a culture of reflective practice, continuous improvement and innovation. Your work will have a direct impact on teacher growth, student engagement, wellbeing and achievement across the Junior School.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Working collaboratively with the Junior School Leadership Team, the Pedagogical Coach plays a pivotal role in strengthening teaching practice, supporting professional growth and enhancing student learning outcomes through coaching, mentoring and evidence-informed educational strategies.

In this influential role, you will:

- Partner with teachers to strengthen classroom practice through coaching, observation, feedback and reflection.
- Support the implementation of evidence-informed pedagogical practices aligned to College priorities.
- Facilitate professional learning and model effective teaching strategies.
- Mentor graduate, early career and experienced teachers through coaching and development initiatives.
- Support teachers to plan engaging, differentiated and inquiry-based learning experiences.
- Analyse teaching and learning data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Promote consistent approaches to pedagogy, curriculum delivery, assessment and reporting.




- Support the implementation and evaluation of teaching and learning initiatives and innovation projects.
- Coordinate professional learning communities and collaborative planning processes.
- Foster a culture of trust, collaboration, continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Build strong relationships with teachers, leaders, students and families.
- Contribute positively to the broader co-curricular and community life of the College.

ABOUT YOU

You are a highly effective and reflective educator who is passionate about teaching excellence and continuous improvement. Through strong coaching, communication and relationship-building skills, you inspire and support colleagues to achieve outstanding outcomes for students.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

- Current Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration and relevant teaching qualifications.
- Demonstrated success as an exemplary classroom practitioner within a primary school setting.
- Strong knowledge of contemporary educational research, pedagogy and evidence-based teaching practices.
- Experience coaching, mentoring or leading professional learning initiatives.
- An understanding of inquiry-based learning, with knowledge of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) highly regarded.
- Strong capability in analysing student achievement and teaching data to inform improvement.
- Excellent communication, collaboration and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to influence, support and inspire colleagues through coaching and leadership.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
