About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Procurement Officer to join our Bendigo team.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you’ll help build and manage a strong supplier network across a range of material categories. You’ll work closely with internal teams and suppliers to improve cost, quality, delivery and overall supplier performance.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll have the opportunity to influence procurement strategies, negotiate with suppliers and contribute to cost-saving initiatives across the business.

The role will involve some travel to Bucher Municipal sites and supplier locations within Australia.

What you’ll be doing

- Research and develop supplier markets for assigned material categories
- Identify and assess new suppliers and sourcing opportunities
- Negotiate pricing, commercial terms and supply agreements
- Manage supplier contracts and resolve supply and quality issues
- Manage the ECN process for purchased items
- Monitor supplier performance against agreed targets
- Identify and deliver cost reduction opportunities
- Conduct supplier reviews, assessments and audits
- Work with Engineering and Quality teams on supplier selection and improvement
- Provide market and supplier insights to the business
- Prepare procurement reports and updates for management
- Support national and group purchasing activities
- Work with operational purchasing teams to resolve supplier issues

What you’ll bring

You’ll ideally have:

- 3+ years’ experience in procurement,



purchasing or buying
- Experience in engineering, manufacturing or a similar setting
- Strong supplier negotiation and relationship management skills
- Good commercial and financial understanding
- Experience identifying and delivering cost savings
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with supplier performance management
- Knowledge of MRP systems, inventory management and forecasting
- Understanding of Kanban/JIT principles
- Experience working on procurement or improvement projects
- Exposure to international purchasing is desirable
- Understanding of engineering or manufacturing processes is desirable
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Office is desirable
- A relevant degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business or a related field is desirable
- CIPS, CPSM or CSCP qualification is desirable
