About the Division

The School Provision and Establishment Division leads strategic oversight of programs and services that have a strong interface between the Schools and Regional Services Group and the Victorian School Building Authority. The division's key functions include planning to meet Victoria's growing student population, end-to-end support for establishing new schools, meeting the compliance requirements for school registration, and ensuring equitable enrolment policies.

About the Role

The Policy Advisor will be responsible for contributing to strategic enrolment policy projects across all stages of the policy cycle, including research, analysis, consultation, policy development, review and evaluation.

The role requires the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, exercise sound judgement, and effectively manage competing priorities while working collaboratively across the department.

Core responsibilities of the role include:

- Providing expert advice to regions, schools, and stakeholders on enrolment policy and its application.
- Developing and updating policy guidance, communication materials and operational resources to support schools and families with enrolments.




- Researching, analysing and contributing to improvements in enrolment policies, processes, communications and guidance.
- Preparing presentations, reports, briefings, and papers to provide explicit and concise advice to senior executives.
- Supporting effective decision-making and oversight by preparing and coordinating governance papers.
- Building and managing effective stakeholder relationships to enhance awareness of enrolment policies and support reform initiatives.
- Partnering with other areas of the department to support enrolment reforms in response to emerging priorities, technology and legislative requirements.
- Contributing to a positive, collaborative and high-performing team culture through knowledge sharing, continuous improvement and peer support.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications and experience in relevant field, including public policy and social sciences.
