The Project Engineer is responsible for the technical and quality assurance backbone of the project, executing QA requirements, developing and managing ITPs, and driving the identification and close-out of non-conformances. The role supports WH&S; and environmental compliance, assists the Project Manager with variation notices and client communication, keeps plans and specifications current, verifies quantities, manages material ordering and scheduling, and monitors subcontractor compliance.

Key responsibilities

Implement the project quality management plan and ensure QA requirements are understood and applied across the works

Develop and issue Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for relevant activities, in line with project specifications and standards

Schedule and attend hold point and witness point inspections, and ensure sign-off documentation is completed and filed correctly

Maintain accurate and complete QA records to support project close-out and compliance requirements

Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) where work does not meet specification or approved ITPs





Investigate the cause of non-conformances and coordinate proposed rectification with the Supervisor and Project Manager

Review SWMS for technical accuracy and compliance with project and regulatory requirements

Monitor works for compliance with WH&S; and environmental requirements, and report concerns to the Supervisor and Project Manager

Identify scope changes arising from site conditions, design changes or client instructions

Monitor and update construction plans, drawings and specifications as revisions are issued

About you

Technical knowledge of civil construction practices and quality assurance processes

Experience with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and quality management systems

Knowledge of WH&S; and environmental compliance requirements

Ability to prepare technical correspondence and submissions

Experience with document control and specifications management

Ability to verify quantities and support cost reporting

Experience reviewing subcontractor QA documentation and test results

Solid communication skills for liaison with clients, designers, certifiers and subcontractors
