About the role

National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Ranger to work as part of the team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage.

Imagine starting your workday surrounded by pristine beaches, stunning coastal forests, and some of the most spectacular landscapes on the NSW South Coast. As a Ranger with the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), based in beautiful Narooma, you'll play a vital role in protecting and managing the region's outstanding natural, cultural and Aboriginal heritage while helping visitors enjoy unforgettable experiences in our national parks and reserves. This diverse, hands‑on role combines conservation, environmental management, visitor services, stakeholder engagement, project delivery, bushfire management, and field operations, ensuring no two days are ever the same.

Working as part of a dedicated team, you’ll assist in the management of our Biamanga and Gulaga National Parks – two national parks that we jointly manage with Aboriginal traditional owners. Along with the Team Leader Rangers, you will assist in providing advice, guidance and mentoring to the Aboriginal Trainee Rangers. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a unique environment and manage national parks in collaboration with the Biamanga and Gulaga Boards of Management and our enthusiastic Aboriginal Trainee Rangers.

The ideal candidate will have a relevant degree or equivalent qualification, a willingness to guide and mentor others, and the ability to work independently while contributing to team outcomes. Essential requirements

- A degree or equivalent relevant to the field operations of the Agency.
- Current Australian Class C Drivers licence or equivalent and ability to operate four-wheel-drive vehicles.
- Required to obtain certification at the appropriate level prior to undertaking firefighting/incident control duties.
- Willingness to fly in light aircraft and preparedness and ability to be involved in incident management duties including firefighting.

This is a physically active role suited to candidates of all genders who are fit, enjoy working outdoors as part of a team, and are eager to learn and develop the skills and qualifications needed to contribute toward improving and maintaining some of NSW's most precious natural places. Applicants must meet the requirements of a specific medical assessment which is inclusive of a clearance to undertake the fitness test for firefighting fitness roles (i.e. moderate level Task-Based Assessment for Firefighters)



within the 12-month probationary period, if relevant.

The role holder must obtain certification at the appropriate level prior to undertaking firefighting/incident control duties.
