About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate music educator to join our Junior School as a Music Teacher with a POR for Coordinator of Strings | Early Childhood and Primary.

We are offering a one year fixed-term part-time teaching role of 0.49 FTE with a appointment to the Position of Responsibility, Coordinator of Strings | Early Childhood and Primary, which includes a time release component of 0.16FTE, totaling a contract of 0.65 FTE.

Working collaboratively with the Music Department and the Head of Learning and Teaching | Corio Junior School, the Coordinator of Strings | Early Childhood and Primary will lead the ongoing development and delivery of a high-quality strings programme that inspires participation, musical excellence and student engagement across the Early Childhood and Primary years.





What You Will Be Doing

- Lead, supervise and coordinate the Early Childhood and Primary Strings Programme.
- Deliver engaging and high-quality strings instruction that supports student growth and achievement.
- Enhance and further develop the existing Strings Programme to maximise student participation and engagement.
- Collaborate closely with the Music Department, classroom teachers and school leaders to support programme success.
- Develop and coordinate musical performances, assemblies, concerts, music soirées and other community events.
- Prepare students for performance opportunities, including occasional inter-campus events.
- Support the development and implementation of music curriculum aligned with contemporary best practice, the PYP framework and Reggio Emilia philosophy.
- Employ authentic assessment practices and maintain accurate records of student progress.
- Communicate regularly with parents through conversations, written reports and parent-teacher conferences.
- Monitor, evaluate and report on programme outcomes and student achievement.
- Foster student wellbeing and create an inclusive and supportive learning setting.
- Contribute to the ongoing growth and strategic direction of the Music Department.





What We Are Looking For

- Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Music Education
- An experienced teacher with proven success as an accomplished music educator and musician.
- Demonstrated expertise in teaching strings and instrumental music.
- Strong ensemble leadership experience.
- Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- A collaborative approach and commitment to contributing positively to a team environment.
- Previous experience coordinating a music programme.
- Accomplished ensemble conducting experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP).
- Familiarity with the Reggio Emilia educational philosophy.
- Keyboard and accompanying skills.
