Accent Environmental is a Melbourne-based environmental consultancy of specialists working on environmental impact assessments, landscape and visual impact assessments, and approvals for renewables, mining and other major projects across Australia and internationally. Accent places a strong emphasis on explicit visual communication to complement and enhance our high quality written reports.

We're looking for a Spatial Analyst to join our team and help deliver spatial analysis, GIS and visual communication across our project work - producing the spatial and visual information and figures that go into our technical reports and building your skills across a range of different projects and sectors. You'll work closely with our Lead Spatial Analyst, who is focused on the high quality delivery of our spatial work and the expansion of our capabilities. You'll be part of an evolving practice, picking up and helping develop new tools, methods and analytical approaches.

What you'll be doing

Sourcing and quality-checking spatial data across our projects - satellite imagery, cadastral data, environmental datasets, and client-supplied files

Producing maps, figures, and spatial analysis for environmental and social impact assessments, landscape and visual impact assessments, including in the renewables and mining sectors

Assisting with spatial modelling and analysis - constraints mapping, viewshed and visual impact analysis, site suitability





Helping build and maintain our GIS workflows, spatial databases, and mapping templates

Supporting both senior and junior staff as they build their GIS knowledge and skills

Contributing spatial input to proposals and tenders

What we’re after

Bachelor degree in geographic information systems, spatial science, geography, environmental science, or related discipline

2-5 years' experience in GIS/spatial analysis, ideally within environmental consulting, planning, or a related field

Solid QGIS and/or ArcGIS skills, and a good grasp of geospatial principles and cartographic design

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain spatial findings to non-technical audiences

Detail-oriented, with excellent time management and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

Desirable - exposure to spatial databases (e.g. PostGIS) and scripting/automation for GIS workflows (e.g. Python, ModelBuilder)

Desirable - experience producing spatial outputs for EIA, LCVIA, BESS, or renewable energy planning projects

Desirable - experience with remote sensing analysis, drone-captured data, 3D visualisation (e.g. Blender), and Adobe Creative Suite

Awareness of potential AI developments and opportunities within the spatial and visual communication fields
