We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Draftsperson to join our team in a full-time role.

Task & responsibilities

- Interpreting project specifications, engineering sketches and equipment information to establish drafting requirements for mechanical electrical, industrial electrical, and building management installations.
- Preparing detailed CAD drawings, including electrical layouts, single-line diagrams, circuit schematics and wiring diagrams, based on engineering designs and project requirements.
- Assisting electrical engineers with the development and refinement of layouts for switchboards, control panels, cabling and motor control systems.
- Producing manufacturing and assembly drawings for custom-built switchboards and control panels, detailing component positions, enclosure dimensions, terminal arrangements and wiring connections.
- Preparing electrical installation drawings showing equipment locations, cable routes and connection details, taking account of site dimensions and coordination with other building services.
- Developing control wiring and interconnection drawings for building management installations, incorporating interface requirements supplied by engineers and building automation partners.
- Compiling cable, terminal and equipment schedules, ensuring identifiers, ratings and connection references remain consistent across drawings and supporting documentation.
- Incorporating site measurements, equipment dimensions and manufacturers’ technical information into drawings,



identifying discrepancies and referring technical queries to the responsible engineer.
- Preparing material take-offs and component lists from electrical drawings to assist estimators with quantities and material cost estimates for manufacture and installation.
- Checking drawing sets for dimensional accuracy, circuit continuity, consistent symbols and conformity with project specifications and applicable electrical standards, referring design issues for engineering review.
- Liaising with engineers, project managers, switchboard manufacturing personnel and site electricians to clarify drawing details and incorporate approved changes arising during manufacture and installation.
- Updating drawings from approved revisions and site mark-ups to produce accurate as-built documentation, maintaining drawing registers and revision records for project delivery and handover.

Qualification & experience

Qualifications:

- At least a Diploma or higher qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Drafting or a closely related field, or an equivalent overseas qualification.

Experience:

- A minimum of one year of relevant experience in electrical engineering drafting or a closely related field.

Skills Required

- Proficiency in CAD software and electrical drafting.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of electrical systems, controls and relevant Australian standards.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Effective communication, teamwork and time management skills.
