- Provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team to oversee, manage and deliver Queensland Health's project, initiatives and responsibilities for Brisbane 2032 and other major events.
- Lead and manage the team to deliver projects and initiatives, including, statewide coordination of health planning; design and execution of work packages to fulfil contractual obligations; delivery of a Games readiness program for Queensland Health; and engagement with key stakeholders to mitigate potential impacts on Queensland Health service delivery.
- Provide program management and operational support, including setting priorities, managing multiple tasks and risks, achieving results within tight deadlines and coordinating projects effectively.
- Prepare high quality and complex reports, briefing, business cases and other communication relevant to health planning for major events.

How you will be assessed

The essential requirements for this role are:

- Well-developed communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills to enable effective interaction with stakeholders at all levels, including the ability to negotiate, build relationships, influence stakeholders and manage staff within the healthcare portfolio.
- Strong strategic, analytical and innovative skills in program planning, management, and execution, with expertise relevant to health planning and delivery for major events.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of policy development, public sector responsibilities, central agency functions, and government procedures, coupled with the ability to provide high-level policy advice and briefings.
- Proven ability to provide strategic advice and direction within the health care workplace while building and leading high-performance teams to deliver high quality outcomes within tight timeframes.

The successful applicant will be employed as a fixed‑term temporary employee. This means the successful applicant's employment will be on a temporary not a permanent basis.

The reason it is necessary to employ the successful applicant on a temporary basis is that the role is being filled to work on the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This is an exciting, once in a lifetime opportunity for applicants and for the State of Queensland. There is much work to do in the lead up to the Games but once the Games are over the role will no longer be required. This role is required is to perform work for a particular purpose i.e., the Games, which has a known end date. Hence employment on a permanent basis is not viable or appropriate.
