This position will be located in our Central Coast office.

About the role

At Servers Australia, the Junior Network Technician supports the network team with day-to-day service provisioning and deprovisioning, network and server infrastructure installations, and project delivery. This is an entry-level traineeship combining practical workplace experience with an agreed TAFE qualification relevant to the role. Working under the guidance of experienced team members, the trainee will build skills in networking, data centre operations and service delivery. No previous industry experience is required. The role includes regular travel to data centres within the state and interstate, including overnight stays where required. Responsibilities and independence will increase as training progresses and competence is demonstrated.

Key responsibilities

- Provision and deprovision customer services using documented procedures, approved requests and guidance from the network team.
- Complete allocated setup, configuration and connectivity checks appropriate to the level of training received. Escalate faults, unclear requests or unexpected results.
- Keep service records, tickets and relevant network documentation accurate, and communicate progress or delays to the appropriate team.




- Attend regular local and interstate data centre visits to assist with network and server infrastructure installations, upgrades and removals.
- Assist with equipment preparation, rack installation, cable patching, labelling and installation checks under the direction of experienced staff.
- Update asset, rack and cabling records, and follow site access, equipment handling and workplace safety procedures.
- Assist the network team with infrastructure projects, equipment rollouts and planned changes, completing assigned tasks and reporting progress.
- Help maintain technical documentation and checklists, and suggest improvements as familiarity with the work develops.
- Enrol in and work towards completion of an agreed TAFE qualification alongside employment, including required classes, assessments and workplace learning activities.
- Apply learning to supervised workplace tasks and participate in regular feedback and progress discussions with the manager or nominated mentor.

About you

- Current driver's licence.
- Willingness to learn and a genuine interest in technology, networking and practical infrastructure work.
- Commitment to undertaking and completing the TAFE study associated with the traineeship.
- Willingness and availability to travel regularly to data centres within the state and interstate, including overnight stays where required.
- Reliability, attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions and documented procedures.
- Ability to communicate clearly, work as part of a team and seek assistance when needed.
- Basic familiarity with computers, computer hardware or networking, gained through school, personal projects, hobbies or previous work (desirable, but not essential).
