A Motor Mechanic is an important part of the business because the role directly supports the delivery of these automotive repair and maintenance services. The Motor Mechanic will diagnose mechanical faults, perform servicing and repairs, inspect vehicle components, replace or repair faulty parts, and help ensure vehicles are safe and reliable for customers. Having a suitably qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic will help the business maintain service quality, meet customer requirements, and efficiently manage its ongoing workload.

This is a full-time position that requires a minimum commitment of 38 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

· Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical faults using advanced diagnostic equipment.

· Dismantle and reassemble engines, transmissions, steering systems and other major vehicle components as required.

· Inspect vehicle components thoroughly for wear, damage, faults or malfunction and identify required repairs.

· Perform repairs and maintenance on engines, braking systems, suspension, steering and other essential vehicle systems.

· Carry out routine vehicle servicing, including oil and filter changes, inspections, adjustments and replacement of worn parts.

· Perform tyre-related services,



including tyre fitting, wheel balancing, tyre rotations and puncture repairs.

· Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections and roadworthy checks to ensure vehicles meet applicable safety standards.

· Supervise and mentor junior mechanics by providing technical guidance, practical support and on-the-job training.

· Allocate workshop tasks and coordinate daily workflow to ensure jobs are completed efficiently and vehicle downtime is minimised.

· Conduct quality control checks to ensure completed repairs and servicing meet company requirements and relevant industry standards.

· Maintain accurate service records, job cards, repair documentation and records of parts and materials used.

· Liaise with customers and fleet managers to provide professional advice regarding repairs, servicing requirements and preventative maintenance.

· Assist in diagnosing recurring mechanical and fleet-related issues and recommend practical long-term solutions to improve vehicle performance and reliability.

· Ensure all workshop activities, tools and equipment are used safely and in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements and company procedures.

· Test vehicles after repairs and servicing, identify any remaining issues and ensure all work is completed correctly before vehicles are returned to customers or fleet operators.

Requirements

· Minimum qualification of Certificate IV in Automotive Technology or equivalent.





· At least one year of relevant work experience as a Motor Mechanic

· Demonstrated ability to diagnose mechanical faults and resolve complex vehicle-related problems effectively.

· Competent in operating modern automotive diagnostic equipment and electronic testing tools.

· Comprehensive understanding of vehicle systems, including engines, braking, suspension, steering and electrical components.

· Previous experience with tyre fitting, wheel balancing, tyre rotation and general tyre maintenance is desirable.

· Ability to perform duties independently while also working collaboratively within a workshop team.

· High level of attention to detail with a strong focus on quality, accuracy and reliable workmanship.

· Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to complete work within required timeframes and minimise vehicle downtime.

· Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers, fleet managers and colleagues.

· Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements and the ability to consistently follow safe working practices.

· Ability to provide technical guidance, support and mentoring to junior mechanics when required.

· Adaptable and flexible approach, with the ability to work efficiently in a busy and fast-paced workshop environment.
