Position Title: Wall and Floor Tiler

Smart Homes WA Pty Ltd T/A Smarter Construction Group is an Australian custom residential builder specializing in single-family homes and client-focused living spaces. The company manages the entire building process—from initial conceptual planning and design to physical construction and hand-over. They are recognized in the Malaga and greater Perth regions for delivering tailored housing solutions that align with specific client preferences, budgets, and personalized project coordination. As part of its ongoing operations, the company is hiring a Full time Wall and Floor Tiler to deliver high-quality tiling for residential construction, renovation, and property improvement projects. The role involves surface preparation, precise tile laying, and collaborating with project teams to meet strict build timelines.

Key Responsibilities

1. Prepare wall and floor surfaces by removing old tiles, grout and adhesive, filling holes and cracks, and cleaning the surfaces.
2. Examine plans and specifications, measure and mark surfaces, and lay out the work before tiling begins.
3. Apply waterproofing systems to wet areas and other surfaces as required.
4. Spread adhesive onto prepared surfaces and tiles, then set the tiles in position.
5. Ensure tiles are correctly aligned and evenly spaced throughout the installation.

Cut and shape tiles using tile-cutting tools to fit edges, corners, and around fittings, pipes and other objects.
7. Grout tiles, then clean and remove excess grout from the finished surface.
8. Create mosaics by laying colored tiles in patterns, where required.
9. Lay floors of granolithic, terrazzo, cement or similar composition, where required.

Essential Requirements

- AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV
- Minimum of 1 year’s relevant experience as a Wall and Floor Tiler or in a similar tiling role.
- Strong knowledge of wall and floor tiling techniques, materials, tools and equipment.
- Experience preparing surfaces, measuring and marking areas, cutting tiles, and applying tiles to walls and floors.
- Ability to interpret plans, drawings and measurements and accurately determine tile requirements.
- Good understanding of adhesive application, grouting, waterproofing and finishing techniques.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements and safe use of tiling tools and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a construction or renovation team.
