About the Role

Our Inspire at Home Program supports young people aged 12-18 in residential placements. As the Therapeutic Practice Lead, you will play a critical role in creating trauma-informed, therapeutic environments for these young people. Reporting to the Regional Manager, you will collaborate with Key Workers, Placement Leads, and Child Safety to conduct assessments, create support plans, and deliver therapeutic interventions that prioritise the voice and wellbeing of each young person.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct assessments, develop and review Individual Compatibility Assessments, Crisis Support Plans, Safety Plans, and other therapeutic supports.
- Collaborate with young people to ensure their voices are central in all planning processes.
- Provide therapeutic input, training, and coaching to foster a trauma-informed approach within the team.
- Promote family and community-inclusive practices to enhance placement stability and support transitions.
- Engage in continuous improvement by reviewing support plans and participating in incident reviews.
- Provide on-call therapeutic support on a rotational roster.

About You

- Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Allied Health, or equivalent experience.
- Experience: Preferably with young people in out-of-home care, with knowledge of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and trauma-informed practices.
- Skills: Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

- Requirements: Working with Vulnerable People registration, National Police Check, First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain within 3 months), and a valid Tasmanian driver's license.

Selection Criteria

1. Commitment to the mission and values of CatholicCare Tasmania as informed by the Archbishop’s Charter; and a broad understanding of the mission, values and operation of the Catholic Church in Tasmania.
2. Skills and knowledge appropriate to the provision of therapeutic services to young people age 12 years to 18 years,



including long- and short-term residential placements, foster care, outreach and independent living skill development programs.
3. An understanding of Child and Adolescent Development, Trauma and Attachment and the ability to support others to gain awareness of these theories role in providing a therapeutic environment.
4. Analytical, assessment and report writing skills around trauma and the related behaviours which may present for young people who have experienced family disruption and abuse and neglect.
5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team, across agency programs and with other service providers in the community to ensure positive and sustainable outcomes for young people within the program.
6. Possess a sound knowledge of relevant statutory requirements, including Mandatory Reporting, Workplace Health and Safety, Duty of Care, Privacy and Confidentiality, Children, Young People and their Families Act and Anti-discrimination legislation.
7. Ability to support teams with training, coaching and supervision to maintain high standards of service delivery and outcomes for young people in care.
8. Demonstrated flexibility to work according to the needs of young people and ability to participate in the provision of an ‘on call’ roster and the ability to work shifts in lieu of a worker being unavailable across your region and the State if required.
