About Digital Health and Clinical Coding at Gold Coast Health

Digital Health and Innovation leads the delivery of Gold Coast Health's most significant service improvement, clinical redesign, and digital transformation initiatives.

Within Digital Health, our Clinical Coding Services aims to align health funding to patient care through accurate coding of all diseases and procedures to ensure Gold Coast Health is accurately reimbursed for patient services provided. We also have a key role to play in research and innovation, in that our responsibilities will also include bringing external insight into the organisation for improvement.

About Your New Role

In this role as the Clinical Coder, you will leverage your expertise in clinical documentation analysis to assign accurate and timely clinical codes, ensuring data integrity and compliance with state and national standards. Through ongoing involvement in education, evaluation and auditing initiatives, contribute to the continuous improvement of coding quality and clinical information management.

Your Key Responsibilities

- Abstract relevant information from the electronic patient record and all available clinical information systems
- Utilise appropriate resources and liaise with the Clinical Coding Educator or Liaison
- Assign accurate International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, Australian Modification (ICD-10-AM) and Australian Classification of Health Interventions (ACHI) codes and perform Diagnosis-Related Group (DRG) grouping according to Australian Coding Standards, National and State Coding Authority and Queensland Health guidelines within designated timeframes
- Actively participate in education activities, and other initiatives within the Clinical Coding Service, including auditing processes

Qualifications and Experience

- Completion of a Diploma in Clinical Coding, or alternatively a Tertiary Health Information Management related Bachelor is Mandatory




- Clinical coding experience in a hospital and healthcare setting, in particular tertiary level, will be considered highly desirable
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

- Permanent full time position (several positions)
- Base salary ranging from $ 104,386 - $ 114,182 per annum
