Job Description

Psychologist and/or Group facilitator

Ramsay Clinic New Farm

Permanent Part-Time | Up to 32hrs per fortnight

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled Psychologist and/or Group Facilitator to lead our inpatient group therapy program delivered on our young adult and adolescent unit located within the hospital. This role is ideal for someone who brings emotional steadiness, strong interpersonal skills, and a deep commitment to creating safe, inclusive spaces where participants feel respected, empowered, and understood.

Key Responsibilities

- Facilitate engaging structured group sessions using trauma‑informed principles to inpatients under the age of 25 who are admitted to the young adult and adolescent unit
- Participate in the multi-disciplinary team
- Create a safe, predictable, and supportive environment for all participants
- Guide discussions, activities, and reflections with sensitivity and clarity




- Monitor group dynamics and respond to emotional or behavioural shifts appropriately
- Use grounding, regulation, and de‑escalation techniques when needed
- Maintain professional boundaries and uphold confidentiality
- Collaborate with the team to plan sessions, review participant needs, and ensure program quality
- Document attendance, observations, and relevant session notes in line with organisational policies

Skills and Experience

- Must hold a current APHRA as a Psychologist or equivalent other. This role is not open to provisional psychologists
- Experience facilitating groups to young people in community, mental health, education, or related settings
- Experience in the inpatient private healthcare setting is desirable
- Experience working alongside young people
- Training or demonstrated knowledge in trauma‑informed practice
- Flexible, reliable and team orientated
- Experience group facilitating, particularly in DBT
- Clear, compassionate communication style
- Solid understanding of trauma impacts and trauma‑informed practice
- Sound ethical judgment and ability to prioritise safety and safety plan with patients if required
