Our client who is located in South Guilford is a large manufacturer and supplier of building and construction materials, with a busy manufacturing environment and a strong focus on safe and effective operations.

The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Trainee Maintenance Clerk to join the team in a hands-on role supporting maintenance, safety and site procedures. This position would suit someone with a genuine interest in developing a career in Safety / WHS who wants to gain practical experience working directly with trades and operational teams.

This is not a role for someone who wants to stay in the office all day. You will spend a significant amount of time out in the plant alongside Fitters and Electricians, observing work being completed, documenting processes and taking photographs to develop clear, practical procedures and work instructions.

In time you will also assist with training new starters and site inductions, providing valuable exposure to both operational and safety-focused responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

- Work alongside Fitters, Electricians and operational personnel throughout the plant
- Observe and document maintenance and operational processes
- Take photographs and gather information to develop clear work procedures and instructions
- Assist with reviewing and maintaining procedures and documentation
- Support the development of safe work practices and site documentation
- Assist with new starter training and site inductions
- Liaise with maintenance and operational teams to gather accurate information
- Ensure procedures accurately reflect how work is completed on site
- Complete general administration and documentation associated with maintenance and safety





The role involves developing detailed, step-by-step procedures, including photographs, risk notes, PPE requirements, training requirements and relevant WHS references.

About You
We are looking for someone who:

- Has a genuine interest in progressing into a Safety / WHS career
- Enjoys being out on the plant and interacting with tradespeople
- Is confident communicating with Fitters, Electricians and operational staff
- Has strong written and verbal communication skills
- Is organised and highly detail-oriented
- Is comfortable taking photographs and documenting processes
- Can understand and follow procedures and identify safety considerations
- Is confident using Microsoft Office and computer systems
- Is keen to learn and develop their knowledge of workplace safety and procedures

You don't necessarily need extensive safety experience — we're more interested in someone with the right attitude, willingness to learn and a genuine desire to build a career in Safety/WHS.
