The Role

Join the Town of Port Hedland and play a key role in protecting and managing the Town's land interests while helping shape positive outcomes for our growing community.

Reporting to the Coordinator Urban Planning, the Land Administration Officer is responsible for administering mining tenement referrals, Crown land matters, land tenure processes, and property-related enquiries. This role works closely with government agencies, landowners, industry stakeholders, community members, and internal teams to ensure the Town's interests are protected and legislative requirements are met.

In this diverse and rewarding position, you will:

- Assess and manage mining tenement referrals under the Mining Act 1978, including preparing objections where appropriate, coordinating legal processes, and negotiating outcomes that protect the Town's interests.
- Administer Crown land and land tenure matters under the Land Administration Act 1997, including road closures, pedestrian access ways, land vesting, management orders, and related land administration processes.




- Coordinate stakeholder and community consultation activities associated with land administration projects and referrals.
- Manage place naming and property addressing matters in liaison with Landgate and other relevant authorities.

To be successful in this role, you will bring experience in either land administration, urban planning, property, local government, or a related field, together with robust analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills. You will have the ability to interpret relevant legislation, assess complex matters, negotiate outcomes, and build productive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be appointed at either Level 4 or Level 5, with the classification determined based on their relevant qualifications, experience, and demonstrated knowledge.

Work Related Requirements

The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:
