About the role

This company is looking for an experienced Fieldwork Manager to lead day-to-day site delivery on a major contaminated land remediation project in Altona. This is a hands-on site leadership role at the centre of a complex, multidisciplinary program involving environmental and hazardous materials teams, contractors, clients and regulators. The project involves remediation and validation of a former chemical manufacturing site and includes asbestos, PFAS, hydrocarbons and other contaminants. It is expected to run for approximately 2 to 3 years, offering substantial long-term project exposure.

Key responsibilities

- Act as primary on-site lead and day-to-day point of liaison with the client, principal contractor, regulators and other project parties.

- Manage and coordinate environmental and hazardous materials field teams.

- Coordinate soil, water and hazardous materials sampling programs across the site.

- Personally undertake sampling and field work when required.

- Coordinate contractors, consultants and multiple concurrent work fronts.





- Work closely with the Project Manager and Project Director to keep works on schedule and to required quality standards.

- Support environmental validation and remediation activities across the project.

- Resolve practical site issues as they arise in live field conditions.

- Maintain robust safety, quality, documentation and stakeholder communication standards.

About you

- At least around 4 years of environmental consulting experience, including soil and water sampling.

- Strong contaminated land and remediation experience.

- Confidence coordinating multiple field teams, consultants and contractors at the same time.

- Strong client and stakeholder communication skills.

- Practical site leadership capability and the ability to keep work moving in demanding conditions.

- Comfort working hands-on in the field rather than managing the project purely from an office.

- Ability to work closely with project leadership while taking ownership of day-to-day site delivery.
