About the role
BreakthroughT1D is seeking a dynamic and strategic National Events Manager. This role is responsible for the vision, planning and execution of a diverse portfolio of events including advocacy, community fundraising and donor stewardship events. The National Events Manager will manage key suppliers and oversee all financial and contractual aspects of the events portfolio to ensure alignment with organisational goals and brand standards.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the strategy, planning and execution of all major events including National advocacy events (Summit, Kids in the House), National fundraising and stewardship events (Gala Balls in Sydney, Perth, SA and ACT, One Ride in SA, One Walk national and bespoke donor events/functions)
- Develop and manage event budgets, ensure fiscal responsibility and alignment with organisational priorities with CEO/CFO/CDO and National Corporate Partnerships Manager
- Lead contract negotiations with venues and vendors, ensuring favourable terms, identifying partnership opportunities and pro bono support to reduce cost and deliver exceptional events and manage risk mitigation
- Oversee reconciliation of invoices and financial reporting for all events
- Partner with internal stakeholders across departments to align event goals with broader organisational initiatives
- Provide strategic solutions to Executive on event related issues
- Ensure consistent communication and coordination across teams
- Event planning and execution in collaboration with National Manager for Community Fundraising and volunteer committees
About you
- Over 10 years' experience in event management
- Demonstrable event logistics delivery and project management skills, including financial literacy and reporting
- Demonstrated experience in successfully managing multiple events simultaneously and experience in managing public events
- Strong negotiation skills
- Proven experience in delivering large-scale and multi-site events to deliver outstanding customer experiences
- Demonstrated experience in developing and co-coordinating a team-based approach to the tasks and duties of staff, suppliers and volunteers
- Outstanding communication skills across a range of stakeholders including volunteers and suppliers
- Current driver's license
- Solid planning and organisational skills
- Well-developed inter-personal and relationship management skills
