About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Head Stockman to lead the stock team and coordinate the secure, efficient delivery of daily livestock operations at Pegunny. Working closely with the Station Manager, you will oversee cattle handling, mustering, livestock processing, animal husbandry, breeding activities and livestock records. You will lead by example, build capability within the stock team and maintain high standards of animal welfare, safety and productivity. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who takes pride in cattle production, teamwork and station life.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the stock camp, allocate daily duties and supervise the safe and efficient completion of livestock activities.
- Plan and coordinate mustering, paddock rotations, cattle movements, yard work and livestock processing activities.
- Monitor cattle health, condition and welfare, administer treatments as directed and ensure calm, humane livestock handling.
- Train and coach stock staff in cattle handling, horsemanship, animal husbandry, yard work and station procedures.
- Maintain accurate livestock records and support equipment checks, safety processes and broader station operations.

About You

You are an experienced and capable livestock professional with a strong background in senior stock or stock camp roles. You bring practical expertise in mustering, cattle handling, livestock processing, animal health and breeding programs, together with the confidence to lead and develop a team. You communicate clearly, plan work effectively and remain composed as station priorities change. Above all, you are committed to animal welfare, workplace safety, accountability and respectful teamwork.

- Proven experience in a senior stock role or similar livestock leadership position.
- Strong cattle handling, horsemanship, mustering and livestock husbandry skills.
- Experience with livestock processing, animal health and breeding activities.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a stock camp, allocate work and coach less-experienced team members.
- A genuine commitment to cattle production, accurate recordkeeping, workplace safety and station life.
