About The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Quality Systems Specialist to join Openway’s Research & Development team and make a visible impact across our Clayton South site. In this hands-on role, you’ll strengthen our quality systems, champion customer and regulatory requirements, and partner with teams across the business to drive safer processes, stronger compliance and right-first-time outcomes. Please note this is a 12-month, fixed-term contract.

This is an opportunity to bring your technical expertise and practical problem-solving skills to a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. You’ll have the scope to influence how quality is embedded in day-to-day operations, support recent product development and change initiatives, and help teams turn insights into lasting improvements.
What you’ll do:
- Act as a key quality contact for new product development and change management.
- Lead internal and external audit programs and support HACCP, GMP and Quality Management System activities.
- Translate regulatory, third-party and customer food safety standards into practical site procedures and best practice.
- Investigate significant customer complaints and non-conformances, identifying root causes and effective preventive actions.
- Deliver quality and food safety training to production teams, including CCP and QCP requirements.
- Champion customer expectations and support production teams to achieve strong operational and quality outcomes.
- Promote a zero-defect mindset through right-first-time thinking and the elimination of repeat issues.
About You

You will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in a science discipline.
- At least five years’ experience in a similar role within food manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of ingredients, food safety certification and raw material risks.
- Sound risk-assessment skills and the ability to prioritise supply and procurement risks.
- Experience supporting or leading internal and external audits.
- Practical knowledge of HACCP principles and applications.
- Confident stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
- Working knowledge of export compliance requirements, including export documentation, market access requirements, certification processes and regulatory obligations for food products in domestic and international markets.
