About the role

This company is seeking a senior hazardous materials and occupational hygiene consultant to become the senior technical anchor for its growing Adelaide operation. The role combines technical consulting, report review, project coordination, client advice and mentoring, with enough field exposure to remain close to the work. The Adelaide business has grown to a sustainable team of around eight. The right person will help close that gap by supporting technical delivery, managing client expectations and providing day-to-day leadership to consultants.

Key responsibilities

- Review and quality assure hazardous materials and occupational hygiene reports, proposals and technical deliverables.

- Provide senior technical advice and final sign-off where authorised.

- Lead complex hazardous materials and occupational hygiene projects from scope through to delivery.

- Undertake surveys, air monitoring, clearance inspections, exposure assessments and other technical field work when required.

- Coordinate responsive project work, resources, deadlines, budgets, safety, quality and client expectations.

- Act as a credible senior technical contact for clients and other stakeholders.

- Mentor and guide consultants through peer review, technical support and practical problem solving.

- Monitor budgets, work in progress, scope changes and variations, and support timely invoicing.

- Identify opportunities for additional services and refer them internally.

- Contribute to templates,



technical procedures, quality systems and continuous improvement.

About you

- Around 4+ years of relevant experience in hazardous materials, asbestos and occupational hygiene consulting or industry.

- Strong practical asbestos and hazardous materials knowledge, combined with genuine consulting capability rather than purely field-auditing experience.

- Demonstrated experience reviewing and quality assuring technical reports and giving senior technical advice.

- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, codes of practice, Australian Standards, exposure assessment and sampling.

- Ability to manage complex or responsive projects from initial request through to final deliverable.

- Strong written communication and technical reporting skills.

- Confidence dealing directly with clients and senior stakeholders.

- Ability to work independently, prioritise competing deadlines and give constructive technical feedback.

- Tertiary qualification in occupational hygiene, environmental science, science, engineering or a related discipline.

- Current unrestricted driver licence.
