About the role

Design, develop and review mechanical systems, components and equipment. Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, calculations and technical documentation. Assist with the design, selection and optimisation of HVAC and mechanical systems, including heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and associated equipment. Undertake mechanical calculations relating to equipment sizing, airflow, heat loads, pressure and system performance.

Key responsibilities

- Design, develop and review mechanical systems, components and equipment

- Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, calculations and technical documentation

- Assist with the design, selection and optimisation of HVAC and mechanical systems, including heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and associated equipment

- Undertake mechanical calculations relating to equipment sizing, airflow, heat loads, pressure and system performance

- Support the installation, commissioning, testing and maintenance of mechanical equipment and systems

- Diagnose mechanical faults and recommend practical engineering solutions

- Review equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency and safety

- Liaise with suppliers, contractors, technicians and other project stakeholders

- Ensure engineering work complies with relevant Australian Standards,



WHS requirements and project specifications

- Assist with project planning, costing, procurement and delivery

Qualifications & Experience

* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
* Relevant professional experience in mechanical engineering.
* Knowledge and/or practical experience with HVAC and mechanical services systems.
* Ability to interpret and prepare engineering drawings and technical specifications.
* Understanding of mechanical design, manufacturing, fabrication and maintenance principles.
* Experience with CAD or other mechanical engineering/design software is desirable.
* Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
* Positive written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a project team.

What We Offer

This is a full-time, permanent position offering an annual salary of $90,000 plus superannuation.

The role provides an opportunity to work across practical mechanical engineering, HVAC, fabrication and technology-focused projects within Protech Laser.
