Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) is the nation’s leading voice on exercise and sports science. We govern and represent approximately 10,000 degree-qualified accredited exercise professionals who support Australians to reach their health and performance goals.

About your role

Make an impact across the exercise and sports science professions.

In this role, you’ll lead projects and initiatives that strengthen member engagement, build professional connections and grow the visibility and influence of our professions.

A key focus will be Exercise is Medicine® Australia (EIM), building stronger connections with GPs, Practice Managers and the broader health sector to increase awareness, strengthen referral pathways and connect more Australians with qualified exercise professionals.

You’ll also work closely with ESSA members, State Chapters, industry groups and internal teams to deliver initiatives that create real value for our members and profession.

You will:

- Lead the delivery of Exercise is Medicine® Australia (EIM) initiatives that increase awareness of exercise as an important part of healthcare.
- Build strong relationships with GPs, Practice Managers and other health professionals, strengthening connections and referral pathways to qualified exercise professionals.
- Lead and grow State Chapters, member and industry groups, creating active networks that connect members with ESSA and each other.
- Identify opportunities to grow participation, visibility and impact, strengthening ESSA’s member value proposition and professional reach.
- Lead strategic projects and initiatives from idea to delivery,



managing plans, timelines, budgets, priorities and outcomes.
- Work collaboratively across ESSA and with external stakeholders to turn ideas into action, improve how we work and deliver meaningful outcomes for members and the profession.

Your competitive edge will include:

- Tertiary qualifications in project management, business, communications, health or a related field
- Experience working within or alongside the health sector, with a strong understanding of engaging health professionals and stakeholders
- Proven experience leading projects and strategic initiatives from planning through to delivery and evaluation
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to build trust, influence and collaborate across diverse groups
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including developing engaging, high-quality resources
- A proactive, adaptable and solutions-focused approach; experience in a member-based, not-for-profit, health or professional association environment will be highly regarded
