About the role

The Dental Assistant is an key role contributing to Knight Street Dentists & Tatura Dental Care operations and team. Working predominantly in a clinical role, the Dental Assistant is required to assist also with front office reception administrative duties. The primary purpose of the Dental Assistant role is to provide chairside assistance to the dental practitioner. The role requires delivery of exceptional patient care at every stage of the patient journey, with this care leading to development of long term patient relationships that underpin business growth.

Key responsibilities
Provide chairside assistance to the practitioner
Perform clinical duties to support the dentist in delivery of clinical care to patients
Adhere to infection control guidelines and maintain the general hygiene and cleanliness of the practice
Answer the telephone and productively schedule appointments in accordance with rehearsed scripts
Handle patient accounts and maintain patient records in accordance with practice guidelines
Coordinate patient flow to optimise appointments and production
Assist with administrative duties as required and when directed by the Practice Manager
Meet and strive to exceed targets set as key performance indicators (KPIs)




Perform clinical tasks including chairside assisting, x-rays and photos, sterilisation, instrument tracking, stock management, and note taking
Ensure surgery is ready for each day's appointments, including that treatment rooms are adequately stocked and clean

About you
Anticipate the needs of the dentist and/or oral hygiene therapist, understanding what would be required when
Have the capacity and commitment to adhere to practice procedures and systems
Be responsive in completion of daily tasks, work with interruptions and manage competing priorities
Work autonomously and demonstrate initiative in all areas of work
Set and meet deadlines, working to the daily appointment schedule and completing action items within agreed timeframes
Have a sound knowledge of correct grammar, spelling and punctuation, and the ability to write legibly and work with numbers
Maintain confidentiality regarding patient and personal matters
Maintain an outgoing, friendly attitude with patients and team, including when under pressure
Have exceptional human relations skills, including demonstrated high levels of interpersonal communication and team-oriented teamwork
