We're looking for an experienced beverage specialist to lead recipe development and day-to-day operations as we launch Ala Vai, our brand new wellness juice bar in Newstead.

The role includes:
Owning menu development and perfecting recipes — refining our juices, smoothies and teas for consistency, flavour, and balance
Bringing creativity to our tropical and functional drinks, developing current seasonal offerings that fit the Ala Vai brand
Understanding and protecting the purpose of our menu — every drink should tie back to real wellness perks, not just taste
Overseeing daily operations, opening and closing procedures
Leading and rostering a small team of casual staff
Making and serving fresh juices, smoothies and teas alongside the team during busy periods
Managing stock, ordering and supplier relationships
Maintaining food safety, cleanliness and presentation standards
Handling customer feedback and resolving issues on the spot
Supporting the owner with reporting on sales and wastage

We're looking for someone who has:
3+ years of hands-on experience specifically working with juices and smoothies — this is essential, not preferred
A refined palate and genuine understanding of taste,



balance and flavour-pairing across a menu
Robust creativity with tropical and exotic ingredients (coconut, cacao, soursop, hibiscus, noni, and similar)
A clear grasp of functional/wellness beverages — why each ingredient is on the menu, not just how it tastes
Experience managing or leading in a café, juice bar, or similar quick-paced hospitality venue
The confidence to lead a small team, work independently, and stay calm under pressure
Reliability, punctuality and availability for morning shifts

This is a hands-on role for someone who genuinely loves developing drinks, not just making them to a set recipe. You'll have real input into what goes on our menu and why.
