About the role

Emu Bay Taxis is looking for a capable, practical person to take ownership of the day-to-day operational side of our taxi business across Burnie and Wynyard. This isn't a role where you'll sit behind a desk waiting for something to happen. You'll be the person helping keep the operation moving: supporting drivers, dealing with day-to-day issues, managing coverage, keeping an eye on vehicles and bookings, and making practical decisions when something needs sorting.

We're restructuring the management side of the business so operational responsibility is clearer and more sustainable. The right person will have genuine authority over normal day-to-day operations, while working closely with senior management on larger issues, commercial decisions and business improvement.

Key responsibilities
Day-to-day coordination of taxi operations
Supporting drivers and responding to operational questions
Monitoring fleet coverage and helping resolve roster or availability gaps
Managing routine vehicle and operational issues
Handling normal customer complaints and service issues
Helping maintain driver standards and accountability
Monitoring bookings and identifying operational problems
Coordinating with workshop, office and support providers where required




Helping onboard new drivers and staff
Keeping senior management informed of significant issues

About you
Experience in transport, logistics, operations, hospitality management, retail management, fleet management, rostering, customer service, workforce coordination, running your own business, or another rapid-moving setting where problems need to be solved quickly
Calm when things go wrong
Communicate well with different personalities
Can make sensible decisions without needing constant approval
Organised but adaptable
Comfortable using technology
Can have difficult conversations when required
Understand the importance of reliability and customer service
Take responsibility for outcomes
Can distinguish between something you should solve yourself and something that needs escalation
