Nurse Next Door

Job Description
Care Ambassador | Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse
Ready for a nursing role that's a little different?
If you love nursing but are also passionate about leadership, quality care, building relationships and Making Lives Better, this could be the role for you.
Nurse Next Door Wagga Wagga is looking for a Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse to join our Leadership Team as a Care Ambassador.
This isn't a traditional nursing position.
You'll combine your clinical skills with care coordination, client relationships, clinical oversight, mentoring and supporting our Care Team.
You'll have the prospect to influence how care is delivered while still maintaining meaningful contact with the people we support.
You'll work primarily weekdays with 30 hours across Tuesday to Friday, based from our Wagga Wagga office with regular visits to clients in the community.
The position is being offered as a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Who are we?
Nurse Next Door Wagga Wagga provides in-home nursing, disability and aged care services across Wagga Wagga and the surrounding region.
Our purpose is simple: Making Lives Better.
Since opening in Wagga Wagga, we've built a growing local team committed to providing care that feels personal, responsive and genuinely different.
Our culture is built around four core values:
Admire People
WOW Customer Experience
Find a Better Way
Passionate About Making a Difference
And we're incredibly proud of our team and the culture we've created.
So, what exactly is a Care Ambassador?
Think of it as a combination of clinical nurse, care coordinator, mentor and client advocate.
You'll work closely with our Care Designer, Care Ambassadors, Leadership Team, Clients, Families, Nurses and Caregivers to make sure the care we provide remains safe, person‐centred, responsive and exceptional.
No two days will look exactly the same.
One day you might be completing a First Visit with a new client, reviewing a Care Plan and supporting a Caregiver with a clinical competency.
The next you could be reviewing progress notes, speaking with a family about changing care needs, completing a nursing visit or helping the team solve a problem before it becomes a bigger one.
What you'll be doing
Your role will include:
Supporting the clinical oversight and coordination of a portfolio of clients
Completing client assessments, First Visits, Supervisory Visits and Care Plan Reviews
Providing direct client care as part of the role,
including both Caregiving and Nursing Visits as required.
Depending on business and client needs, direct care may make up to approximately 80% of your working hours at times
Completing nursing visits within your scope of practice, which may include wound care, catheter care, medication management, diabetes care and other nursing supports
Developing and updating person‐centred care plans
Monitoring client wellbeing and identifying changes, risks or deterioration
Reviewing progress notes and clinical documentation and following up concerns
Working closely with clients, families and other health professionals
Providing clinical guidance and support to our Care Team
Completing and supporting clinical competencies within your scope of practice
Assisting with Caregiver education, development and supervision
Supporting incident management, quality improvement and clinical governance
Helping us continually improve the way we deliver care
Supporting the wider leadership team with day-to-day service coordination when required
Participating in a shared, rostered on‐call rotation
What we're looking for
Above everything else, we're looking for someone who cares deeply about people and takes pride in doing things well.
You'll ideally be someone who is:
A Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse with current AHPRA registration without conditions that prevent you from performing the inherent requirements of the role
Clinically confident and comfortable recognising and escalating changes in a client's condition
Organised and able to manage several priorities without losing attention to detail
An excellent communicator who can build trust with clients, families and team members
Comfortable providing feedback, coaching and support to others
Proactive and willing to take ownership
Curious and always looking for a better way of doing things
Confident using technology and learning new systems
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a close leadership team
Experience in community nursing, disability, aged care or home care would be fantastic, but it isn't essential.
Experience or confidence in areas such as wound care, catheter care, medication management, diabetes management, continence care or complex care would also be highly regarded.
Most importantly, we want someone with the right attitude who genuinely connects with our values.
Why you'll love working with us
We know nursing skills are valuable, and we want this role to give you something different from a traditional nursing position.
You'll have:
A four‐day working week, Tuesday to Friday, with genuine flexibility to adjust your hours from time to time when life happens
A genuinely award‐winning culture: We've proudly won Nurse Next Door's Admire People Award two years running, recognising the strongest employee feedback results across the Nurse Next Door network.
For us, that reflects the kind of workplace we work hard to create every day.
A varied role combining nursing, leadership and Client care
Genuine autonomy and the opportunity to influence how care is delivered
A supportive local leadership team
Ongoing learning and professional development
Opportunities to grow your leadership and clinical governance experience
Modern technology and systems designed to make your work easier
A laptop and mobile phone provided
The opportunity to build meaningful, long‐term relationships with Clients and families
Recognition for the work you do and the difference you make
And yes, you will even get to drive one of our iconic pink cars!
If you're an RN or EN who has been thinking, "I'd love to do something different with my nursing career", we'd really like to hear from you.
Mandatory requirements
You'll need:
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse without conditions that prevent you from performing the inherent requirements of the role
Current First Aid and CPR
Working With Children Check
NDIS Worker Screening Check
Current Australian Driver's Licence
Access to reliable transport
Ability to participate in the shared rostered on‐call rotation
Ready to Make Lives Better?
If you're looking for a role where you can use your clinical knowledge, develop your leadership skills, build genuine relationships and help shape exceptional care in our community, we'd love to meet you.
