About the role:

Our team is growing, and we are currently seeking a
full-time
Assistant Catering Manager
. Reporting to the Catering Manager – Health (SA), you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operation of healthcare food services, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of meals to patients, residents, visitors, and staff. Based at
Modbury Hospital
, the role will also provide support across ISS Health operations within the Adelaide metropolitan region as required.

Key Responsibilities:
n
n
Support the Catering Manager in the effective day-to-day operation of the catering and food services department
n
Coordinate and oversee meal production, plating, distribution, and service to ensure meals are delivered accurately, safely, and on time
n
Ensure all catering operations comply with HACCP principles, food safety regulations, and healthcare standards
n
Supervise, support, coach, and develop catering team members to achieve operational excellence
n
Collaborate closely with dietitians, speech pathologists, nursing teams, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient dietary requirements are met accurately
n
Monitor service quality, productivity, and operational performance
n
Assist with rostering, workforce planning, and labour management
n
Support budgeting, cost control, stock management,



and continuous improvement initiatives
n
Foster a positive workplace culture focused on safety, accountability, teamwork, and customer service
n
n
About You:
n
n
Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior hospitality or food services leadership role
n
Experience within catering, hospitality, food services, or a healthcare catering environment
n
Demonstrated knowledge of menu planning, product development, and food innovation
n
Strong understanding of food safety legislation, HACCP principles, and industry best practices
n
Proven experience leading and developing large operational teams
n
Sound financial, budgeting, forecasting, and commercial management capability
n
Experience using CARPS, Delegate, or similar operational systems
n
Robust stakeholder management skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary healthcare teams
n
Excellent communication, leadership, organisational, and time management skills
n
Ability to engage, motivate, and inspire teams while maintaining high performance standards
n
n
Additional Requirements:
n
n
Flexibility to work across multiple SA Health sites.
n




Ability to successfully complete pre-employment medical assessments and background checks.
n
Current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
n
Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
n
Ability to undertake SA Health Worker Category A immunisation requirements.
n
