The Company An exciting opportunity has arisen with a growing Australian FMCG business with an established national presence across major retail, convenience, discount and independent channels.
The business has built a strong portfolio of much-loved consumer brands and is now entering an exciting new phase of growth, with a greater focus on brand building, consumer engagement and developing its own in-house marketing capability.
This is the first dedicated marketing hire in the Australian business, making this a genuine build role rather than a maintenance position.
You'll have the opportunity to shape the foundations of the marketing function, establish ways of working and have a direct impact on the growth of a portfolio of well-known consumer brands.
The Role Reporting into the Global Head of Marketing, this role will own brand and consumer marketing for the Australian business.
You'll take the lead on brand strategy and development, consumer activation, content and channel management, campaign planning and brand governance, while working closely with commercial teams, external creative partners and international brand stakeholders.
This is a hands-on role, with approximately 30% strategy and 70% implementation.
You'll be equally comfortable developing the strategy and rolling up your sleeves to brief an agency, manage a content calendar, review creative, analyse campaign performance or get a launch into market.
Key responsibilities will include: Own brand positioning, strategy and frameworks for the Australian portfolio.
Develop and manage the annual marketing and campaign calendar.
Lead NPD launch communications and go-to-market plans.
Develop local consumer activations across priority brands and key seasonal moments.
Own always-on consumer channels, including content planning,
social calendars and community engagement.
Brief and manage external creative, content and production partners, ensuring delivery against brief, budget and timelines.
Establish and maintain brand governance across assets, artwork, templates and guidelines.
Monitor campaign and channel performance, marketing spend and brand growth, using insights to shape future activity.
Analyse category trends, consumer behaviour and competitor activity to identify opportunities.
Work closely with commercial, account management, supply chain and brand partners to bring activity to market.
Manage marketing budgets and recommend investment priorities.
Help build the marketing function over time, including supporting the introduction and management of future content and marketing support roles.
The role will have a steady always-on component, alongside bursts of activity around seasonal campaigns, product launches, NPD and brand activations.
About You: You're a commercially minded brand marketer who enjoys being close to the work.
You're not looking for a role where you simply brief agencies and wait for the output.
You enjoy building, creating, influencing and making things happen.
You'll ideally bring: 5+ years' marketing experience, with a strong track record across brand and campaign ownership.
Experience developing brand positioning, strategy and campaign frameworks rather than simply executing established briefs.
Strong understanding of consumer marketing, content and social channels, including hands-on ownership of an always-on presence.
Experience working closely with commercial or sales teams in an FMCG or broader consumer environment.
A demonstrated ability to operate in a hands-on role, with a strong implementation focus.
Comfort working with ambiguity and building processes, frameworks and capability where they don't yet exist.
Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to work effectively with agencies, commercial teams and external brand partners.
A balance of strategic thinking and practical execution - you're someone who can develop the plan and then get stuck into delivering it.
Experience within FMCG would be highly regarded, as would experience working with principal, licensed or international brands.
Experience building a current marketing function or establishing marketing capability from the ground up would also be advantageous.
Most importantly, you'll be someone who enjoys the opportunity to build rather than inherit.
What's on offer: The opportunity to be the first dedicated marketing hire in the Australian business.
Genuine ownership across brand strategy, consumer marketing and activation.
The chance to build the foundations of a new in-house marketing function.
Exposure to a portfolio of established, much-loved consumer brands.
Significant scope to influence how the marketing function evolves as the business grows.
The opportunity to shape and manage future marketing hires as the team expands.
A highly visible role with direct impact on the growth of the Australian business.
An exciting opportunity to join a business at a genuine growth stage and make your mark.
