We are seeking a skilled and motivated Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team.
The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced commercial kitchen environment, preparing, seasoning and cooking a diverse range of authentic Asian and hotpot-style dishes while maintaining consistent standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene and safety.
Qualifications Experience Minimum Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent relevant qualification.
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience working as a Cook in a commercial kitchen environment.
Sound knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, ingredients and commercial kitchen equipment.
Good understanding of food quality, produce handling and storage requirements.
Ability to prepare and cook food consistently in a quick-paced commercial kitchen.
Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Experience in Asian cuisine and hotpot-style food preparation will be highly regarded.
Key Responsibilities Examine ingredients and food products to ensure freshness, quality and suitability for preparation and cooking.
Prepare, season and cook a variety of Asian and hotpot-style dishes in accordance with established recipes and restaurant standards.
Operate and regulate the temperatures of ovens, grills, burners and other commercial cooking equipment.
Prepare ingredients by cleaning,
cutting, portioning, marinating, seasoning and undertaking other required food preparation activities.
Monitor food during the cooking process to ensure appropriate cooking times, temperatures, flavour, texture and quality.
Portion and present cooked food appropriately, including adding sauces, garnishes and accompaniments as required.
Prepare food to accommodate customers' special dietary requirements where required.
Store food and ingredients appropriately, including in temperature-controlled facilities, in accordance with food safety requirements.
Monitor the quality of ingredients and prepared food and report any quality or stock issues as required.
Assist with estimating food requirements and monitoring stock levels to support efficient kitchen operations and minimise wastage.
Assist with menu preparation and new food offerings where required.
Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic food preparation and cooking area.
Clean and maintain cooking equipment, utensils and work areas in accordance with workplace procedures.
Follow all food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff and front-of-house employees to support efficient food preparation and service.
Assist in training and supporting junior kitchen staff where required.
