HOBAN Recruitment is seeking an experienced APS6 level Project Officer to support the delivery of complex projects, reporting initiatives and continuous improvement activities within a high-profile Federal Government setting located in NEWCASTLE NSW.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional who enjoys project management, stakeholder engagement, data analysis and reporting.
You will play a key role in delivering project outcomes, supporting governance requirements and providing meaningful insights that drive informed decision-making.
About the Role As an APS6 level Project Officer, you will contribute to the planning, delivery and evaluation of projects while supporting business improvement initiatives and executive reporting requirements.
Your responsibilities will include: Developing and implementing project plans, schedules and reporting frameworks.
Monitoring project deliverables, milestones, risks, issues and dependencies.
Preparing high-quality reports, executive briefs, presentations and business documentation.
Supporting project governance, operational integration and strategic planning activities.
Managing project reporting, performance monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives.
Analysing complex datasets to identify trends, risks, opportunities and business insights.
Developing and maintaining dashboards, spreadsheets, tracking tools and reporting products.
Supporting budget monitoring, financial tracking, procurement and contract administration activities.
Coordinating quality assurance activities and ensuring deliverables meet business requirements.




Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to support project outcomes and organisational objectives.

About You To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate: Experience managing projects, programs, operational initiatives or reporting functions.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.




Exceptional written communication skills, including experience preparing briefs, reports and executive correspondence.
Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management capabilities.
Proven ability to analyse, interpret and present complex quantitative and qualitative data.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, lookups and data analysis techniques.
Experience developing dashboards, reporting products, performance measures and management information tools.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage risks and provide practical recommendations.
High attention to detail and commitment to data quality and reporting accuracy.
Experience working in a government or public sector environment will be highly regarded.
Exposure to Power BI, SharePoint and Microsoft Teams will be advantageous.
