The Merchandise Planner at BIG W brings our purpose to life by balancing data-driven forecasting with strong trading instincts.
In this role, you will develop the plans, forecasts, and parameters that ensure our ranges have the right mix, quantity, and price to drive sales, maximise margin, and optimise inventory across our store network.
What you'll do Develop merchandise financial plans using top-down and bottom-up data to drive category performance, sales, and profit.
Set option plan frameworks for Designers and Buyers,



prepare range reviews for buy sign-off, and ensure stock is bought within plan parameters and OTB.
Manage in-season OTB, inventory, markdowns, and promotional plans to optimise stock turns and protect profit.
Track weekly trading and post-season performance, working with Buyers to act on trends, clear liabilities early, and improve results.
Build accurate models and rolling forecasts to support financial planning and peak trading events.
Work with cross-functional stakeholders to keep range builds on track against the critical path schedule.
What you'll bring At least 3 years of experience as a Planner, ideally in a large retail setting.
Experience trading a sizeable category across high SKU volumes, or experience planning a full category end to end.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn sales and inventory data into practical trading decisions.
