Kids and Youth Minister

St Phil’s Caringbah is seeking a Kids and Youth Minister to lead and develop our ministry among children, young people and their families.

The Role

We are looking for a Kids and Youth Minister to join our ministry team and take responsibility for leading and developing our ministries among children and young people.

The role involves overseeing discipleship, pastoral care, outreach and leadership development, working closely with our congregational pastors and teams of lay leaders.

This is a full time role, although we are open to flexible working arrangements for the right candidate. The role may be shaped to give greater emphasis to youth ministry or to children and families, depending on the candidate’s gifts and experience, and may include supervision of student ministers and ministry apprentices.

Remuneration will be in accordance with diocesan guidelines, based on qualifications and experience. The Kids and Youth Minister will report to the Rector.

Key Responsibilities

- Discipleship: Take responsibility for the Christian discipleship of children and young people through gospel-centred, Bible-based, prayerful and relational ministry, particularly through Friday Kids Club and Youth Group, Sunday Kids Church and Youth Bible Study,



camps and other discipleship opportunities.
- Community and pastoral care: Take responsibility for the community life and pastoral care of children and young people, working with congregational pastors to welcome families and integrate children and youth into the intergenerational life of the church.
- Outreach: Lead outreach to children and young people through regular ministries, fostering an evangelistic culture and clear pathways for newcomers, and building connections with local public schools through teaching and supporting SRE and secondary ISCF.
- Leadership development: Recruit, train, support and develop ministry leaders, modelling godly leadership and delegating meaningful responsibility so that others grow in character, competence and ownership of ministry.
- Safe Ministry: Work with the Safe Ministry Representative to ensure that all children’s and youth ministries operate in accordance with diocesan Safe Ministry requirements.
- Whole-church leadership: Contribute to the spiritual and strategic leadership of St Phil’s, modelling godly character and working collaboratively with staff and lay leaders toward the church’s wider ministry goals.

Qualifications and Experience

- Theological qualifications: Diploma of Theology or above preferred




- A ministry apprenticeship and/or experience in children’s or youth ministry
- Demonstrated commitment to Reformed evangelical theology and ministry
- Current Working With Children Check and willingness to meet all Sydney Anglican Safe Ministry requirements

Skills and Capabilities

- Spiritual maturity, with demonstrated faithfulness, humility and prayerful dependence on God
- Ability to teach the Bible and Christian theology clearly, faithfully and age-appropriately to children and young people
- Ability to build and lead teams, developing others and delegating responsibility effectively
- Ability to relate well to children, young people, parents and people across the wider church
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, exercising leadership while also working well under leadership
- Ability to disciple and develop others through encouragement, feedback and coaching
- Ability to take responsibility for ministry outcomes and to hold both self and others appropriately accountable
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise and execute ministry within the church’s wider goals
- Flexibility to work the hours required for children’s and youth ministry, including evenings and weekends
- Commitment to ongoing learning and growth as a Christian and ministry leader
