What you'll do

As the Principal Project Officer, you will lead the development and delivery of strategic projects, programs, and policy initiatives that support Queensland Health's priorities. You will develop program documentation, business cases, and policy frameworks, applying established project management methodologies to ensure effective planning, governance, stakeholder engagement, and timely delivery of outcomes. Drawing on research, environmental scanning, and analysis, you will identify emerging policy challenges and opportunities, provide high-level advice on health policy, legislation, and strategic issues, and contribute to the review and development of legislative, regulatory, and business instruments. In this role, you will prepare high-quality briefing materials, reports, submissions, and correspondence for senior departmental executives and the Minister, while building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support collaboration and successful project outcomes. You will also contribute to procurement and contract management activities, uphold contemporary workforce management and governance practices, provide ethical and informed decision-making, and support the continuous improvement of Health Workforce Division processes and services.

About you

We are searching for someone who has:

- High level knowledge of health priority areas especially, maternity and early years; the health needs of key population groups; and key health system issues.
- Leadership skills and ability to provide high level accurate and timely advice on complex issues. Ability to work independently and utilise initiative in the achievement of objectives.
- Ability to manage and deliver on projects, undertake research, interpret trends and provide detailed interpretation and analysis of reports,



discussion papers and other project documentation and to provide advice on policies and strategies.
- Demonstrated conceptual, analytical and innovative problem-solving skills and the ability to develop and implement flexible and responsive solutions to address issues and manage risks.
