As part of our growing national project portfolio, BMD is delivering the landmark Darwin Ship Lift Facility, one of Northern Australia's most significant marine infrastructure projects. To support successful project delivery, we are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer with strong buildings and structural construction experience to join the team in Darwin.

Key responsibilities

- Maintain strong HSEQ awareness and ensure compliance across all project activities
- Coordinate contract administration, including insurances, bonds and project management plans
- Monitor construction programs and drive project performance against key milestones
- Prepare and review monthly progress claims and subcontractor statements
- Manage subcontractor and supplier engagement, including procurement, negotiation and contract finalisation
- Identify and manage variations, extensions of time (EOTs) and contractual risks
- Oversee cost control, forecasting, budgeting and monthly financial reporting
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and key project stakeholders
- Coordinate pre-start meetings and ongoing project meetings
- Identify critical materials and resources to ensure procurement aligns with construction programs
- Lead, mentor and develop Project Engineers and Site Engineers




- Support design management activities and contribute to project planning and delivery strategies
- Drive productivity and construction outcomes across complex building, structural and marine infrastructure works
- Coordinate and manage building works, including concrete structures, commercial buildings, industrial facilities and associated services integration

About you

- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience as a Senior Project Engineer or Project Engineer delivering major building or structural construction projects
- Proven experience across commercial, industrial, defence, marine or large-scale infrastructure building projects
- Robust understanding of structural concrete, building construction methodologies and services coordination
- Experience managing multidisciplinary subcontractors and complex construction interfaces
- Strong understanding of contract administration, cost control and commercial project delivery
- Proven ability to manage subcontractors, suppliers and stakeholder relationships
- Experience identifying and managing project risks, variations and contractual obligations
- Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring and developing engineers
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- High level of organisation, planning and attention to detail
- Commitment to safety, quality and environmental outcomes
