THE ROLE

The Senior Policy Officer provides legal policy,



legislative reform and strategy advice in relation to Victoria's disability legislative settings and related policy matters. This includes co-ordination, consultation, research, development, implementation, review and reform of policy and legislation across the disability legislative portfolio. Working as part of a team, the role supports work in respect of death reviews policy, responses to Coronial inquiries, annual complaints reporting, and provides policy support to the Victorians ineligible for the NDIS program. The role supports engagement with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including other Victorian Government departments, agencies and statutory bodies. By applying sound knowledge of relevant statutory and policy frameworks, the role supports program and policy development to progress department and government priorities related to disability and the NDIS.

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE

- Contribute to the development, review and implementation of discrete policy and legislative projects, exercising sound judgement and attention to detail, establishing priorities, managing risks and dependencies, coordinating input and delivering outcomes within agreed timeframes.
- Undertake research and analysis and provide authoritative, evidence-based advice on disability policy, legislative and regulatory issues,



implications and practical options for government consideration.
- Prepare high-quality advice and materials for a range of audiences, including executives, Ministers and other decision-makers and the public, including briefs, Cabinet submissions, parliamentary materials, correspondence, submissions and reports.
