About the role:
- VPSG4 Salary - $100,894 - $114,476 + super + leave loading
- Two (2) fulltime, fixed term: 24 months after commencement
- Working within the Digital Delivery and Transformation Division (DDTD), Continuous Improvement Uplift and Technology (CIUT) located at the Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
The Digital Delivery and Transformation Division (DDTD) within CIUT provides a dedicated program and project management service to lead and manage the delivery of technology and digital solutions that support Victoria Police's strategic objectives and enable its mission to keep members, employees, and the community safe.
A priority Victorian Government initiative is the upgrade of Victoria Police's information system to integrate with the National Firearms Register, providing timely access to accurate firearms information, enhancing community safety.
The Licensing and Registration Management System (LRMS) Program aims to deliver a modern and contemporary information system that enables the end-to-end management of firearms, private security, and weapons; provide a core licensing, compliance, and regulatory platform capable and effective in managing and controlling large volumes of transactions; and integrate with partner agency systems like Services Victoria and the National Firearms Register.
The VPS4 Test Technician (Test Analyst) will support the successful delivery of the LRMS Program by planning, coordinating and executing testing activities across the project lifecycle. Working closely with business stakeholders, developers, vendors and project teams, the role is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability and readiness of system releases through functional, non-functional, integration, regression and user acceptance testing. The successful candidate will be a proactive and detail-oriented testing professional with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, experience working in Agile delivery environments, and the ability to build effective stakeholder relationships. They will thrive in a team-oriented team environment and be motivated by delivering high-quality technology solutions that support operational outcomes for Victoria Police.

Your duties will include:
- Plan, coordinate, execute and report on functional and non-functional testing activities across the LRMS Program, including system, integration, regression and user acceptance testing.
- Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, test scripts, acceptance criteria and supporting documentation to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
- Work collaboratively with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, developers, vendors and project teams to confirm testing requirements and expected outcomes.
- Define, develop, debug, execute and report on automated test scripts.
- Identify, document, manage and monitor defects through to resolution, including supporting defect triage activities.
- Monitor testing progress and prepare clear reports on test execution, defect status, risks, issues, test outcomes and release readiness.
- Support the planning and facilitation of user acceptance testing,
including stakeholder coordination and outcome reporting.
- Contribute to testing strategies, standards, methodologies, tools and continuous improvement practices across the LRMS Program.
- Apply Agile delivery practices and contribute to user story development, including the definition of acceptance criteria.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships and communications across business areas, project teams, vendors and external partners.
About You:
The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:
- Three to six years' experience in IT testing (Essential)
- Expertise with Playwright (advantageous) or similar automation tools (desirable)
- Demonstrated experience delivering functional, non-functional, system, integration, regression and user acceptance testing.
- Experience working in an Agile delivery environment, with an understanding of methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.
- Demonstrated ability to define, develop, debug, execute and report on automated testing.
- Strong experience developing test plans, test cases, test scripts and supporting testing documentation.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Sound experience in defect identification, documentation, triage and management through to resolution.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with business representatives, subject matter experts, developers, vendors and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Proven ability to constructively manage stakeholder issues and support positive delivery outcomes.
- Ability to operate effectively across concurrent activities in a complex agile and waterfall delivery environment.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in information technology, business or a related discipline is highly desirable.
- Relevant industry or vendor certification, particularly with a testing focus, is highly desirable.
- A commitment to ethical behaviour and the Victoria Police Code of Ethics and Conduct and organisational values.
Requirements and relevant information:
- Two (2) x full-time, fixed-term positions available for 24 months.
- This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
- The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen. OR Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
