About the role

Inkerman Hotel is seeking a talented Casual Chef to join our kitchen team in St Kilda East, Victoria. This is a casual position offering flexibility and the opportunity to work in a dynamic hospitality environment. As a Casual Chef, you will play an essential role in delivering exceptional culinary experiences to our guests, working alongside other experienced kitchen staff to prepare quality dishes that reflect our commitment to excellence in food and service.

What you'll be doing

- Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to menu specifications and recipes, maintaining consistent quality and presentation standards

- Assisting with food preparation, including chopping, portioning and marinating ingredients to ensure efficiency in service

- Maintaining strict hygiene and food safety standards, adhering to all relevant health and sanitation regulations

- Operating kitchen equipment safely and appropriately, including ovens, grills, fryers and other cooking apparatus

- Collaborating with other kitchen/wait staff to ensure smooth service during busy service periods

- Plating and garnishing dishes to meet presentation standards before service

- Assisting with inventory management and reporting on stock levels as required

- Contributing to a positive and organised kitchen setting through teamwork and communication

What we're looking for

- Proven experience as a Chef or Cook, with demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced kitchen environment

- Strong cooking skills and knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients and flavour combinations

- Current Food Safety and Hygiene Certification or willingness to obtain one





- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation

- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple tasks during service

- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house staff. Ability to take direction and work other chefs and hotel staff.

- Flexibility and reliability, with availability to work casual shifts as required

- Knowledge of dietary requirements and allergen management
