The College is seeking an accomplished and values-led educational leader to join the College Leadership Team as Director of Teaching and Learning. This senior role will shape the strategic direction of teaching and learning across the College, with direct responsibility for curriculum, assessment and academic programs across Years 5–9. Reporting to the Deputy Principal – Curriculum, the Director will lead evidence-informed improvement, strengthen teacher capability and help every student achieve their potential.

The Director will lead a coherent, rigorous and evidence-informed approach to teaching and learning, strengthening educator practice and maximising student outcomes. Working collaboratively with leaders, teachers, students and families, the successful candidate will foster academic excellence, professional growth and innovation while ensuring that decisions and practices remain grounded in the Catholic ethos and the values of Loreto.

Commencing in January 2027, this is an initial five-year appointment, with the opportunity for a further five-year term subject to the position continuing and a satisfactory review in the fourth year.

Key responsibilities

- Provide strategic leadership for the implementation and ongoing development of the Loreto Teaching and Learning Framework, promoting research-informed pedagogy, innovation and academic excellence across the College

- Oversee the design, delivery and review of curriculum programs across Years 5–9, ensuring alignment with College priorities and relevant state and national requirements

- Lead rigorous and consistent assessment, moderation and reporting practices, with operational oversight of assessment cycles, examination processes, subject selection and key compliance requirements

- Use academic data to inform strategic decision-making,



monitor student progress and guide responsive intervention, enrichment, literacy and numeracy initiatives

- Build a strong professional learning culture by leading collaborative learning, coaching and development that strengthens teaching practice, leadership capability and collective responsibility for student achievement

- Work in partnership with the College Leadership Team and lead Curriculum Leaders and other key staff to support effective planning, resource allocation, communication and program delivery

- Model and promote the spiritual and educational values of Loreto, ensuring teaching and learning reflects the College’s Catholic identity, mission and commitment to the dignity and growth of every student

- Maintain high standards of governance, academic integrity and compliance with legislative, regulatory, student protection and College policy requirements

About you

You will be an accomplished educational leader with a tertiary qualification in Education, current eligibility to teach in Queensland, and substantial expertise in curriculum, assessment and evidence-informed pedagogy. You will bring strategic and systems-level thinking, strong operational judgement and the ability to use data to improve teaching practice and student outcomes. A collaborative and relational leader, you will communicate with clarity, build trust, develop cohesive teams and support leaders and teachers through coaching and professional learning. You will demonstrate integrity, sound organisation and a genuine service ethos, together with a commitment to Catholic education and the mission, values and rich heritage of Loreto. Postgraduate qualifications and/or middle leadership experience will be highly regarded.
