About the role

As a Future Energy Planning Engineer, you will support strategic planning and forecasting for the fastest-growing electricity network in NSW.

Combining power system planning, connection assessments, forecasting and electrical modelling, the role has a strong focus on data, tool integration and systems enablement. You’ll help improve how we use data,



tools and processes to support the next generation of network planning.

You’ll transform complex datasets into actionable insights, helping identify emerging network challenges and opportunities.

As solar PV, electric vehicle charging, batteries, electrification, large-scale loads and generation continue to grow across the network, your work will help support the energy transition and the continued growth of Western Sydney, the Illawarra, Shoalhaven and Blue Mountains.

Key accountabilities

- Develop forecasts and models to guide long-term network planning, decarbonisation and emerging energy technologies, using data science techniques.
- Support the ownership and governance of forecasting and planning datasets and products, ensuring strong data quality and validation.
- Contribute to electrical modelling that identifies network constraints and potential interventions across the distribution network.
- Advance planning tools, scenario modelling and core planning products to enable agile, data-driven investment decisions.
- Build strong relationships with customers, developers and market stakeholders to anticipate and respond to evolving network needs.

About you

You’re motivated by turning complex data into meaningful insights and embedding current capabilities at scale.

You’re solutions-focused and comfortable working through complex power system scenarios,



uncertainty and competing stakeholder needs. You can provide clear, technically sound advice and translate analysis into practical, high-quality outcomes that help shape the future of the electricity network.

You’ll bring a critical and analytical mindset, with the ability to challenge, improve and streamline complex processes to deliver effective outcomes.

Required qualifications

- Bachelor of Engineering.
- Qualifications, specialisation or demonstrated capability in electrical engineering, data science or computer science are highly regarded.

Skills and experience

You’ll bring a background in data science or electrical engineering, with electricity industry experience considered highly advantageous.

You’ll be a strong critical thinker with analytical capability and a demonstrated ability to scrutinise, improve and streamline complex processes.

Most importantly, you’ll be curious, solutions-oriented and motivated by the opportunity to use engineering and data to help shape the electricity network of the future.
