We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join a major tunnelling project in Alkimos - North of the river.

This is a hands-on site-based position, with the majority of your time spent working within the tunnels rather than in a surface-based engineering role.

You will support the construction of tunnel risers working closely with supervisors, shift crews, quality teams and the client to ensure works are completed safely and to specification.

On Offer

- Roster: 5/2 roster – day and night shifts
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 6:00am–6:00pm / 6:00pm–6:00am
Rate: Days - $70 per hour + super | Nights - $80 per hour + super
- Duration: 3 months' work, through to the end of December 2026 with the potential of an extension
- Location: Alkimos
- Start: ASAP

Key Responsibilities

- Liaise with the Supervisor prior to prestart to understand planned works and priorities.
- Attend 6:00am/6:00pm prestarts and communicate relevant issues, concerns, memos, SOPs and SWMS revisions.
- Conduct effective handovers with the opposing Shift Engineer.
- Deliver weekly toolbox talks to crews as required.
- Complete ring installation quality checks and associated ITP documentation.
- Inspect ring installation, including ring roll, defects and other quality requirements.
- Complete and manage defect forms.
- Undertake proof drilling and hammer testing as required for grout verification.
- Conduct defect walks with the quality team and client.




- Assist with site/client/visitor access and inspections within the tunnel.
- Provide general engineering support to the construction team as required.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- A minimum Bachelor of Engineering, preferably Civil Engineering.
- At least 2 years' experience as a Site Engineer.
- Strong hands-on construction experience.
- Excellent site-based communication and coordination skills.
- The ability to work effectively across day and night shifts.
- A solid understanding of construction quality and documentation requirements.

Desirable Experience

Experience in one or more of the following will be highly regarded:

- Tunnelling
- Underground mining
- Civil construction
- TBM operations
- Segmental tunnel construction
- Shift-based or night-shift construction environments

Site & Working Requirements

- Must be WA-based with valid Australian working rights.
- Must hold a current driver's licence and have reliable access to a vehicle.
- Ideally based within approximately 30 minutes of the Alkimos site due to the 12-hour shifts and fatigue-management requirements.
- Comfortable working predominantly underground and within an active tunnelling environment.
- Available to commence ASAP.
