Overview

Your Role

As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will be embedded within a multidisciplinary Scrum team responsible for delivering high-quality, production-ready product features for the Australian Government Digital Modernisation Program.

You will own quality throughout the delivery lifecycle, from backlog refinement and acceptance-criteria review through to exploratory testing, integration validation, automated regression and delivery evidence. This is a hands-on role requiring strong quality engineering judgement and practical test automation capability.

You will work closely with software engineers, business analysts, Product Owners, the Solution Management Team and other program stakeholders to identify quality risks early, make features testable, automate appropriate regression coverage and provide clear evidence that agreed Sprint and Program Increment outcomes have been achieved.

Your Impact

- Own quality within the Scrum team, from refinement and test planning through to execution,



evidence and release readiness.
- Review requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria for clarity, testability and delivery risk.
- Design and execute risk-based functional, integration, API, user interface, exploratory and regression testing.
- Build and maintain practical automated test coverage that supports continuous delivery and fast team feedback.
- Identify, document, triage and retest defects with clear evidence and impact assessment.
- Provide transparent quality reporting across test progress, automation coverage, defects and unresolved risks.
- Collaborate closely with product, analysis, engineering and program stakeholders to resolve issues early.
- Contribute to shared quality ownership, reusable test assets and continuous improvement across the team.

Skills & Experience

- Proven hands-on experience as a Senior Quality Engineer, Senior Test Engineer or equivalent role within complex digital delivery programs.
- Demonstrated experience working as an embedded member of an Agile or Scrum software delivery team.
- Strong experience designing and executing functional, integration, API, user interface and regression tests.
- Hands-on experience developing and maintaining automated tests using Playwright, Selenium, Cypress or an equivalent contemporary automation framework.
- Experience integrating automated tests into continuous integration and delivery pipelines.




- Experience using Azure DevOps or a comparable platform for backlog, test, traceability and defect management.
- Ability to translate features, user stories and acceptance criteria into effective risk-based test coverage.
- Experience testing APIs, system integrations and end-to-end digital user journeys.
- Strong defect investigation, diagnostic, triage and evidence-capture skills.

Set Yourself Apart With
- Experience delivering digital products within Australian Government departments or similarly regulated environments.
- Experience working within SAFe or another Program Increment-based delivery model.
- Microsoft Azure and modern Microsoft application delivery experience.
- Experience testing Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Power Pages, CRM or case-management solutions.
- Experience automating API and integration testing.
