About the Role

The Technical Assistant (Production Support) is responsible for providing technical support to students and staff to maximize related learning and research outcomes. They manage bookings of and maintain a range of digital imaging equipment, photographic studios, labs and darkrooms.

The role is responsible for:

- Daily set up and maintenance of photo studios and darkrooms to ensure they are functional and safe for classes and casual use.

- Management of the production equipment store and FDS student/staff studio, and equipment bookings.

- Providing hands-on support and advice to students on digital imaging, production tools and project delivery in studios and one-to-one settings.

- Maintaining equipment and technical spaces and related safe work practices.

- Assisting with allocation of equipment for events, exhibitions, recordings, and various faculty activities.

About You

To be successful in the role,



you will need to demonstrate in your application (with examples):

- Experience in photo studio environments with knowledge of both flash and LED lighting setups.

- Experience in management of darkroom chemistry and equipment, film processing and alternative photographic printing techniques.

- Expertise in the management of capture, input, manipulation and output of photographic media, including analogue and digital methods.

- Photo recording and editing experience using Adobe and other design software with Mac OS and iOS.

- A qualification with subsequent relevant experience; or extensive experience and/or broad knowledge in technical aspects of photography, darkroom techniques, digital media support and production.

Remuneration/Salary

Base Salary Range: $80,311 to $85,903 per annum (pro rata 0.8FTE) (HEW 4)

This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary.

This position is part time (0.8FTE - 28 hours per week) and appointment will be made on a continuing basis. The successful candidate will be expected to work onsite at the UTS Broadway Sydney campus.
