Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world.

Job Description

The GIS Specialist is responsible for the administration and maintenance of the Steelmaking Coal’s Geographic Information System (GIS) and spatial data environment. The role supports spatial data governance, web GIS applications, mapping services, and enterprise-wide access to geospatial information to support operational, regulatory, environmental, and business objectives.

- Administer and maintain ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online environments
- Manage portal content and maintain hosted feature layers, web maps and other services
- Manage enterprise geodatabases and spatial datasets to ensure data quality, and accuracy.
- Develop and maintain web-based GIS applications to support business processes
- Develop and maintain (GIS) governance standards and procedures for spatial data use in SMC
- Develop relevant maps, aerial photography and other spatial data as required by users and to facilitate critical business decisions
- Manage compliance to the GIS standards to ensure ongoing data accessibility, quality and currency
- Provide technical guidance and training to GIS users to build system capability and promote better decision making through spatial data use

Qualifications

Qualification: Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Geomatics, Spatial Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline

Experience:



Demonstrated experience with ArcGIS Enterprise ArcGIS Pro, Enterprise Geodatabases , ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Tools and APIs
