About the role

RSPCA Victoria is seeking an experienced and CPA/CA-qualified Finance Manager to join our Finance, Risk & Procurement team.

This is a key leadership role responsible for financial management, reporting, compliance and governance, while providing strategic financial advice to support the organisation’s sustainability and objectives.

You’ll lead a team of three Accounts Officers, oversee the month-end financial reporting process and act as the Finance Business Partner for Corporate Services. Working closely with the CFO, Senior Leadership Team and operational managers, you’ll provide trusted financial advice, build strong stakeholder relationships and support informed business decision-making.

You’ll also play an important role in driving continuous improvement and innovation, including the use of automation, artificial intelligence and data analytics to improve finance processes and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

- People Leadership & Development: Lead, coach, train and develop a team of three Accounts Officers, fostering high performance, engagement, job satisfaction and solid financial controls.

- Month-End & Financial Reporting:



Lead the month-end process, including reviewing and approving adjustments, balance sheet reconciliations and the preparation of accurate and timely financial reporting.

- Finance Business Partnering: Act as the Finance Business Partner for Corporate Services, supporting business case development, budgeting, forecasting and analysis of financial performance.

- Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, providing clear, practical and trusted financial advice.

- Financial Management: Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management and day-to-day cash flow, ensuring accurate and effective financial processes.

- Audit & Compliance: Lead the year-end audit process and support financial statements, acquittals, donor reporting and tax obligations including GST, FBT and franking credit refunds.

- Financial Analysis & Insights: Analyse financial information, trends and variances to identify risks, cost-saving opportunities and opportunities to improve financial performance.

- Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Lead and contribute to projects and continuous improvement initiatives, with a focus on automation, artificial intelligence and data analytics to improve finance processes and decision-making.

- Strategic Support: Provide financial analysis and advice to support strategic and operational decision-making, while assisting the CFO with broader finance priorities and projects.

What we are looking for

- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a finance or accounting role.
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Financial Services.
- CPA or CA qualification.




- Demonstrated experience leading, coaching and developing finance teams.
- Strong understanding of financial controls, reconciliations, month-end and financial reporting.
- Experience partnering with stakeholders on budgeting, business cases and financial performance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet challenging deadlines.
- Experience with financial management systems and Microsoft Excel.
- A proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Highly regarded

- Experience with Sage Intacct.
- Experience working with or implementing automation and AI systems.
- Experience using data analytics to improve financial reporting, processes or decision-making.
- Experience working within a for-purpose or not-for-profit organisation.
