Term 4 start | Casual | Reports to Boarding Coordinators

We are seeking enthusiastic, caring and reliable Casual Boarding Assistants to support the wellbeing, safety and development of students within our vibrant boarding community.

Abbotsleigh's Boarding House is home to girls from across New South Wales and beyond who live on campus while attending school. For many students, boarding provides an exciting opportunity to pursue their education while living away from home and family. Our boarders are energetic, capable and engaging young people who participate fully in school life, co-curricular activities and the broader boarding community.

The Role

As a Casual Boarding Assistant, you will play an important role in helping students feel supported, connected and at home while they are away from their families. From providing pastoral care and supervision to being a positive and trusted adult presence, you will contribute to creating a warm, welcoming and inclusive setting where students can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide supervision and support to boarding students in accordance with Boarding House procedures.
- Foster a positive, respectful and inclusive boarding environment.
- Support students' wellbeing, personal development and pastoral care needs.
- Assist with evening, weekend and recreational activities.
- Monitor student attendance, routines and general conduct.




- Respond appropriately to student concerns and wellbeing matters.
- Work collaboratively with boarding, teaching and support staff.
- Ensure compliance with child safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- A genuine interest in supporting the wellbeing and development of young people.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- The ability to build positive and professional relationships with students and colleagues.
- Sound judgement, resilience and a calm approach when responding to challenges.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, overnight and weekends.
- Essential Requirements
- Current Working With Children Check (or ability to obtain one).
- Current First Aid and CPR qualifications (or willingness to obtain).
- Eligibility to work in Australia.
- Commitment to child safeguarding and student wellbeing

Roster and Working Hours

This position operates on a roster across weekdays and weekends. Typical shifts include:

Weekday afternoon/evening shifts, generally 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm
Weekend day shifts
Weekend evening and overnight shifts

Flexibility to work across a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends and occasional overnight coverage, is essential.
