About the Role

We are a growing Small Business based in Ballarat, Victoria looking to expand our number of Telecommunication Technicians in Commercial Construction primarily in Victoria and occasionally interstate. We are hiring for both experienced telecommunications technicians and adult trainees/apprentice. Despite being a small business, we offer the perks of large companies focusing on working directly with our staff every day in the office or on the tools. Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing and fault rectification of telecommunications infrastructure across a range of customer sites throughout Victoria and occasionally interstate.

Your responsibilities will include:

· Working closely with the director, fellow technicians, other trades and client representatives

· Installation, termination and testing of copper structured cabling systems

· Installation and maintenance of optical fibre and communications cabinets

· Diagnose and rectify faults on passive network infrastructure

· Fibre cutovers and live network activities

· Fibre optic cable preparation, and splicing

· Reading telecommunications schematics, and construction plans

· Testing and commissioning of telecommunication networks

· Maintaining splicing equipment, certification testers, tools and company assets

· Ensuring all works meet client specifications, ACMA standards and quality requirements

· Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards in all work activities

· Complete accurate test records and project documentation

Who We Are Looking For

Whether you are an experienced Telecommunications Technician, a CCTV equipment installer, or an Electrician looking for a change or fed up with burnout, we want to hear from you.

We are also highly open to other commercial construction trades who share our passion for quality work. If you are a carpenter, HVAC tech, fitter, or plumber with reliable commercial site experience and elite problem-solving skills, we will support your transition into the clean, high-demand telecommunications field and help you acquire the required licences.

Essential:

· High proficiency with hand and power tools

· Current Victorian Drivers Licence

· A current White Card (Willingness to acquire it)

· Full right to work in Australia

· ACMA Open Cabling Registration (Willingness to acquire it)

· Current Scissor Lift / EWP licence (Willingness to acquire it)

Highly desirable:

· At least 2 years of construction site experience

· Demonstrated experience in fibre optic splicing and testing

· Strong understanding of telecommunications cabling





· Experience completing fibre cutovers and working on live networks

· Competence using fusion splicers, fibre testing and certification test equipment

· Experience with major telecommunication cabling commercial projects, relocations and remediation projects

· Current Open Cabling Registration

Established in 1997, we are a local family-owned telecommunications cabling business in Ballarat. We continue this legacy under a new directorship, maintaining the local, family-owned roots. Safety isn't just talk here; we recently underwent a 3rd-party Work Health and Safety audit through WorkSafe Victoria and partnered with AP Psychology to develop a comprehensive Psychosocial Workplace Hazards policy. We also work continuously with our external cybersecurity provider to protect employee and client data well above standard regulations. Additionally, we have invested in Job Management Software, Xero and Microsoft Business to keep you connected on site at the job, supported in day-to-day workflow and manage your timesheets. We frequently ask for feedback or suggestions to improve our systems so we can optimise and innovate to support our workers and increase efficiency of our construction workload.

Position Overview

Pay & Perks: Starting rates of $26.50 to $35.00 per hour + Super (Based on experience/qualifications). We proudly pay above the award for all positions inclusive of industry and tool allowances. For fully qualified technicians, we offer $35.00/hr (a competitive $3.87/hr above the Electrical Worker Grade 5 award minimum). For an experienced telecommunications technician with proof of competency, the pay rate can be negotiated accordingly.

High Earning Potential: In addition to strong base rates, project demands offer regular access to overtime and weekend work to significantly boost your take-home pay.

Time off: ~26 RDOs a year (aligned with the ETU calendar).

Allowances & Travel: Company owned and maintained work vehicle, fuel card, travel allowances, specialty tools of the trade provided, and all flights and accommodation completely paid for away work.

Security: We pay into the Protect Industry Fund (giving you immediate tax-advantaged severance access, comprehensive income protection, and free family EAP counselling).
