Job Description

We are currently looking for a casual Catering Assistant (up to 20 hours per week) to join our Catering team. This is a 65% back of house, 35% front of house role, Monday-Friday.

About the role

The Catering Assistant will assist with room setup, food and beverage service, basic food preparation, cold food assembly and catering production support, event support, kitchenette replenishment and maintaining service standards across all catering activities.

What you'll be doing

- Provide operational support for boardroom catering, functions, events and tuckshop activities.
- Assist with food preparation activities including sandwich production, basic food assembly and catering support tasks.
- Undertake function setup, room preparation, service support and pack-down activities.
- Support kitchenette replenishment and stocking activities as required.
- Maintain cleaning, food safety and presentation standards in kitchen and service areas.
- Assist with stock handling, stocktakes, delivery receipt checking and storage activities.
- Work collaboratively with catering team members to support efficient service delivery across all catering operations.
- Comply with workplace health and safety, food safety and organisational policy requirements.

About you

- Experience in hospitality, catering, customer service or food service operations.
- Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification.




- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Current national police check.
- Food Safety Handler Certificate (desirable).
- Experience in catering, events or function operations (desirable).
- Ability to undertake basic food preparation and cold food assembly activities.
- Ability to assist with catering production, event preparation and service activities.
- Strong attention to detail and presentation standards.
- Positive communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Ability to work flexibly across kitchen and front-of-house environments.
- Ability to manage routine tasks efficiently and accurately.
- Basic computer and email skills.

About the team

The Catering team is responsible for providing catering services to the Law Society of NSW, which includes:

- Functions that include formal lunches for 10-50 clients, dinners for 12-100 clients and cocktail parties for 30-200 clients.
- Internal Meetings, Seminars & General Staff Catering; includingbreakfast meetings, morning & afternoon teas, sandwich lunches, working lunches, drinks meetings, espresso coffee and beverage service.
- Functions hosted by external Members or individual Clients at the Law Society, providing a fully licensed catering venue available for functions ranging from small meetings to 100 seat theatrettes.
- Daily Tuckshop orders.
